AS it is double the giggles, double the grins and double the trouble if you're blessed with twins. Either Identical or fraternal, you have no doubt had your fair share of struggles growing up as a part of a matching set.

Yet those moments of pure cheekiness and intimate bonds formed through a unique birth certainly makes up for it all. It’s a built-in best friend from day one. Hence, this is story of identical twin-sisters: “Upuli Gamage and Chamali Gamage’’

Upuli and Chamali are the world most influential twins like it always say ‘Two is better than one’. The duo are the founders of Sri Lanka Twins organisation with over 28,000 twin brothers and sisters registered with Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Twins was founded in 1993 on their birthday 23rd August to promote the spiritual, intellectual and social welfare of twins. The twins, registered in the organisation, are from across religions, including Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, among others.  

The 45-year-old twins are set to break Guinness World Record for “The Largest Twins Gathering and Cultural Festival” in August 2021 with or without covid-19 to celebrate the uniqueness of twins and multiples.  

Twins and other multiples, like triplets and quadruplets, have an uncanny, absurd closeness akin to that of no other. From the moment of birth, twins get to experience countless memories, experiences and times of goofiness all in the company of each other, creating a lasting bond greater than friends or family.


“It’s special! We all know it, and being a part of this select group of humans is absolutely worth the celebration! Next year (August 2021), join hands with the Sri Lanka Twins Organisation in celebrating the uniqueness of twins and multiples by coming together for a record breaking congregation of a select group of people in one spot!” said Chamali, young twin.

According to the twin-sisters, such events create an opportunity to build religious harmony, affection and enthusiasm. Its objective is to increase awareness of the unique needs of twins and fulfil their obligations through well-wishers and generous donors’ worlds twin’s twins set to break Guinness record with twin gathering.

Meanwhile, Zambian twins through Twins Plus Foundation is among the countries invited by Major Mahinda Hettiarachchi, Sri Lanka Twins Organisation, managing director on letter dated 27th June, 2020.

CHIBOMBO BOARDING SECONDARY SCHOOL

THE school was built in 1986 to create for a population of 360 pupils, but today the pupils population has risen to 1,100 with same structures. PUPILS at Chibombo High School Its main objective is to provide academic and co-curricular services to pupils. In which the currently the school has a total of 69 teachers of which 35 are males and the other 34 are females. On the other hand, the school has 18 non-teaching staff workers of which 10 are employed by the P.T.A while the remaining eight are under G.R.Z payroll. The school has a total of 1,100 pupils’ altogether of which 903 are boarders while 197 pupils account for day schooling. Besides, 554 are boys and 546 girls in terms of gender.    Orphaned and vulnerable children are accommodated as well, although very few are in boarding section. By WALUSUNGU SILWEYA Lusaka. THE Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) has moved today’s tournament from National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) to Olympic Youths Development Centre (OYDC) due to power and water crisis.
